The County Tyrone Pipe Band

The County Tyrone Pipe Band was founded in 1930's New York City at the height of the Great Depression by immigrants from County Tyrone in Northeast Ireland. They are the oldest Irish pipers in continuous existence in North America. The band is known for having maintained its Gaelic dignity through performance and competion of Irish music on bagpipes and drums. Throughout their existence, the band has held strong to the virtues instilled by its founders: a proudly expressed Irish identity and dedication to acheiving excellence in music. These are qualities that will continue to drive the band through the 21st Century and beyond.

The Washington Showstoppers

The Parade Association is proud to announce the appearance of last year's "Jim Eagen Memorial, Particpation Award" winners, The Washington Showstoppers, in this year's Parade. The Washington Showstoppers Community Marching Band was established in January 2003 to provide a positive environment and save haven for the children, teenagers and young adults living in the Washington D.C. area.

Greater Scranton Black Diamond Pipe Band

The Parade Association is pleased to announce the appearance of the Greater Scranton Black Diamond Pipe Band in this years Parade. The band, formed in 1995, has long been a crowd favorite and lends local flavor to the ever expanding list of Bagpipe Bands that will march in our annual Parade.

The St. Patrick's Parade Association of Lackwanna County is proud to announce that Miss Pennsylvania 2010, Courtney Thomas, will be appearing in this year's Parade on March 12th, 2011. Miss Thomas is currently a senior at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA studying Biological Sciences. Courtney is also involved in the Drexel University String Ensemble where she received the honor of being named a 1st Violinist.

The Saint Patrick's Parade Association was formed in 1962 as an offshoot of Council #280 - Knights of Columbus. Their purpose was to hold an annual St. Patrick's Day parade to honor the patron saint of Ireland and celebrate Irish culture and heritage. This March will mark the 50th anniversary of this event as the parade once again marches the streets of downtown Scranton. The 1962 parade had close 1000 participants and several local High School Bands. The 2011 parade will feature over 12,000 marchers and over 40 bands and musical groups, living up to it's reputation as the largest one day event on the region's calendar.

This year we are honoring the vision of the Parade's Founders as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of "Parade Day." The Saint Patrick's Parade Association is grateful for the tremendous support of the Scranton community and the sponsors that make this day possible.

Double "R" Twirlettes

We're pleased to report that the Double "R" Twirlettes (pictured) will once again be in the Parade this year. They've been a traditional favorite of the crowds in the past. We feel that they are one of the many entries that make this Parade a family event that is fun for all ages.

Bagpipers!

Few things make the hair on your arms stand up like the sounds from a band of bagpipers. As always, there will be many bagpipe bands in this year's parade. We'd like to welcome the The Celtic Cross Pipe & Drums bagpipe band (pictured) from Danbury,Ct for their first appearance in the parade. We know that they will provide a great addition to the already stellar entertainment in the parade which provides tremendous invigoration for all who attend.

Parade 2010 - under 60 Days!

Who can believe that it is less than 60 days until this year's St. Patrick's Parade kicks off in Scranton,PA? We're hoping for great weather for an event that will surely provide a great time for people of all ages. We have many entries pouring in already and we're very happy to have Miss Pa. 2009, Shannon Doyle (pictured) from Wilkes Barre, PA in this year's parade.

Penn York Highlanders

The Penn York Highlanders , Ladies From Hell Pipe band will be again leading the St. Patrick' Parade in Downtown Scranton. A perennial crowd favorite and the first Pipe Band to appear in the annual Parade they have been in the Line of March since the mid 1960's

Pretty Girls and Marching Bands

Kendria Perry (pictured) was crowned Miss Pennsylvania 2008 on Saturday July 12, 2008 in Nazareth, PA. The 23 year old from Pittsburgh is currently a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz School of Public Policy and Management, where she was the recipient of a $40,000 Academic Scholarship. Kendria is also a Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation Scholarship recipient, a William Zimmerman Scholar, and a recipient of the 2007 Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Miss Pennsylvania will be appearing in this year's Parade.

Also pictured is the 28th Infantry Division Band, which will also be marching in the Parade.
